Una believes that counselling is to the soul as exercise is to the body. Life will most certainly involve twists and turns and, whether proactively approaching challenges or aggressively treating them, Una puts clients at ease and provides direction to empower them to withstand and deal with life’s changes. She works in tandem with clients to pursue courses of action based on their personality and fundamental values.

Change might not be easy, even when it’s really wanted.  You can have great intentions and be motivated but still find you are resisting the change, and perhaps not knowing why.  Rather than stay stuck, it makes sense to employ the services of someone with the right knowledge and tools to help free you from whatever has been holding you back. Person-centred therapy

Person-centred therapy is based on the view that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, given the right conditions. You are the expert regards yourself and therefore, rather than the counsellor being seen as the expert and directing therapy, the counsellor works to create a relationship where you feel safe, understood and accepted. Experiencing these conditions can help you feel able to explore, come to terms with feelings, experiences and events and help you to heal, change and develop in your own way, at your own pace. Person centred therapy is an empowering form of therapy that helps you to grow to your full potential.  

What’s on offer

Una offers a safe, confidential and comfortable space where you will be understood, valued, listened to without judgement, believed, accepted, shown unconditional positive regard, empathised with and offered congruency;

…leaving you free to speak about any issue, or issues that you have. Even those niggling issue’s that may feel too small to bother with; the one’s that pop into you head from time to time and just do not really go away because there’s always something else bigger to deal with. Therapy is the perfect place to resolve these and any issues or problems, however big or small they may be.

Along with face to face, I also offer long-term work, short-term work, time-limited, home visits, online video and telephone counselling. This is especially useful for those who are self-isolating, unable to get out and for those who prefer not to travel or meet face to face. I can walk you through the process and together find which method might be best suited.

I offer up to 30 minutes free, no-obligation, initial consultation. It is important to find the right counsellor for you, someone you feel comfortable with. Therefore, this session is to discuss briefly your issues and the goals you want to achieve from therapy, along with the importance of building trust and rapport within the therapeutic relationship so that you gain what you need from therapy, which is why it is so important to see if we feel we are the right fit. If you decide to go ahead, we will book the first session to get started. You’ll find I am friendly and approachable and able to put you at ease.

Being a Registered Member of the BACP, means that you can be assured my training and qualifications have met the professional standards of the largest professional organisation for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK with the security of knowing that I’m bound by their code of ethics and conduct which can be found at: www.bacp.co.uk

I am fully covered by the relevant insurances along with DBS Security Clearance and attend monthly supervision sessions with a BACP accredited and approved supervisor. I am also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, as required by the Data Protection Act 1988. www.ico.org.uk
